Lowgold tour UK & Europe supporting debut
20 March 2001

UK rock balladeers Lowgold, who count Neil Young, Jeff Buckley, Alex Chilton, and Teenage Fanclub among their primary influences, released their debut album Just Backward Of Square last month. It’s available in the US as an expensive import. (Don’t tell, but you can get it much cheaper outside the UK ordering directly from Amazon.co.uk. Shhhh.) You can listen to the entire album in streaming RealAudio on the band’s page on the Nude Records Web site.
Lowgold—front man & song writer Darren Ford, guitarist Dan Symons, bassist Miles Willey, and drummer Simon Scott—recently toured supporting California psychedelic innovators Grandaddy, and are on a headlining tour now with a show tomorrow night in Leicester. Starting 1 April they’ll play a few dates in France and Spain, most of which are already sold out.
Here are the upcoming Lowgold shows

March
21 - Leicester (Charlotte)
23 - Aldershot (West End)
24 - Bedford (Esquires)
29 - Belfast (Aunty Annie’s)
30 - Dublin (Whelans)

April
  1 - Paris (Bataclan)
  2 - Bordeux (Krakatoa)
  3 - Madrid (Riviera)
21 - Sheffield (The Leadmill)
