14 March 2001

UK ambient pop quartet Departure Lounge (founder/ songwriter/ frontman/ Robyn-Hitchcock-protegé Tim Keegan along with Chris Anderson, Lindsay Jamieson, and Jake Kyle) have been in the US working on an instrumental album for former Cocteau Twins guitarist/ programmer Robin Guthrie’s label Bella Union. The not-yet-titled LP is slated for worldwide release sometime this year as part of the label’s 'Series 7,' which includes seven instrumental albums by seven artists, each seven tracks in length. Other artists in the Series include Rothko, Bonnevill, and Robin Guthrie with (former Cocteau Twins bassist/ producer) Simon Raymonde.
Last month Departure Lounge took up semi-permanent residence at Nashville, Tennessee’s The Slow Bar to play every other Tuesday with a rotating assortment of guest artists.
Guthrie has been making his own music as well with his band Violet Indiana. They (Guthrie along with vocalist Siobhan De Mare of Mono) released their Choke EP this past November, available from the Bella Union store. (Bonus tip: The store is also offering a very limited number of the Cocteau Twins BBC Sessions album in the orginal double digi-pack format.) | Departure Lounge | | Bella Union | | bio | | discography | | top of page |
