Charity Empressa reveal details for debut album 4 June 2001 Campuzano recently finished a drone music solo project for Toronto-based Absalom Recordings (home, or home away from home, for The Autumns, The Czars, Frank Black And The Catholics, The Denver Gentlemen, and others) under the banner Charity Empressa. He enlisted help from friends Matthew Kelly (The Autumns), Wayne Everett (The Lassie Foundation), Jason Martin (Starflyer 59, for whom Campuzano also played bass), Michael Knott (Cush, LSU), Troy Daugherty (Duraluxe), and Michael Pritzl (The Violet Burning). Absalom has posted the album track Shake Your Money Maker as a free, full-length MP3 file. The lyrics and melody for the track come from a 1930s American bluegrass recording. Absalom has also posted an MP3 for Charity Empressas I Want Peace, set to appear on the upcoming Seen/Unseen benefit compilation to raise funds for Torontos Evergreen Ministry Centre for Street Youth (see our story on it). You can pre-order Charity Empressa now direct from the label, who say pre-orders will ship well before the late July release date. | Charity Empressa on Absalom Recordings | | The Lassie Foundation | | I Want Peace (full length MP3) | | Rockbites story on Seen/Unseen | | top of page | |
