The Autumns release EP, continue work on new LP
1 June 2001

LA noise pop quartet The Autumns recorded their four track EP Le Carillon about a year ago with producer Andy Prickett (ex Prayer Chain, The Lassie Foundation), but its release was delayed as a few indie labels fought over it. Toronto’s Absalom Recordings won out, and has now begun shipping the disc to customers who pre-ordered; but demand and a string of “manufacturing horrors” have pushed the official release date back to 26 June.
For Le Carillon, The Autumns laid aside their layered noise proclivities and put together a set of “nostalgic, ’50s oriented... love songs” according to their site. The EP follows their 2000 album In The Russet Gold Of This Vain Hour, produced in London by former Cocteau Twin Simon Raymonde. Le Carillon’s tracks are Thieves In Blue, Quite, Slow Kiss, and She Whispers The Winter Snow. To be available on CD through record stores and online retailers, you might also find the EP in its limited edition (1,000 copy) pink 10" vinyl edition from Lovesick Recordings.
Meanwhile, The Autumns are writing songs for their next full length album, to be titled Nocturnes & Subades. They haven’t announced a release schedule. | The Autumns | | The Autumns on Absalom | | Quite (full length MP3) | | discography | | top of page |
