The Cherry Valence to tour this fall w/ Tight Bro’s
9 July 2001

Raleigh, North Carolina retro hard rockers The Cherry Valence just finished a US/Canada tour supporting their debut, self titled album out on US indie Estrus Records. Now, in what looks to be a contender for the highest energy Stateside rock tour for fall, they are putting together dates for September and October with Olympia’s over the top Tight Bro’s From Way Back When. Also playing will be Olympia metal duo C Average.
The Cherry Valence (Brian Quast, Cheetie Kumar, Nick Whitley, Paul Siler, and Jamie Williams) resurrect the musical ghosts of Blue Cheer, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, James Brown, and Black Flag. They tour in a converted prison van—which couldn’t have made getting clearance into Canada last month any easier. Alabama’s XBXRX just last week were denied entry into the country, and banned for 12 months, after an unsuccessful attempt to convince border guards that they are just nice kids with strange stage props.
Tight Bro’s From Way Back When, meanwhile, are now on tour in California previewing their forthcoming album Lend You A Hand, due 31 July on Kill Rock Stars. | Estrus Records | | Turn It Up (full length MP3) | | It's Over (full length MP3) | | interview from Durham Independent | | discography | | CD | | top of page |
