Bright Eyes to play two northeast US shows
6 July 2001

Having recently returned from a major European tour supporting Glasgow noise folk duo Arab Strap, 20 year old Nebraska born singer/songwriter Conor Oberst, aka Bright Eyes, is set to play two northeast US shows this month, both solo performances. The dates are 13 July at Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, Massachussets; and 14 July at the Village Underground in New York city.
Both shows will also feature fellow Nebraskan Simon Joyner, who released his cinematically evocative full-length Hotel Lives last month.
While in Europe, Oberst recorded four songs for BBC Radio 1’s Steve Lamacq Evening Sessions show, including two new tracks: Laura and Waste of Paint. He later performed live at UK radio network XFM.
Bright Eyes’ latest US release is a collaboration/split CD with Son, Ambulance (singer/songwriter Joe Knapp, drummer Jeff Koster, and bassist Landon Hedges), released this past January. Oberst released his new single Drunk Kid Catholic in May in the UK with backing tracks February 15th and I Have Been Eating For You. | Bright Eyes on Wichita Recordings | | Bright Eyes on Saddle Creek Records | | fan site | | Drunk Kid Catholic (full length RealAudio) | | Drunk Kid Catholic (single from Amazon UK) | | discography | | top of page |
