Low to open for Breeders’ first official reunion show

Duluth slo-core trio Low—Alan Sparhawk, vocals, guitar, and keyboards; Mimi Parker, vocals and percussion; Zak Sally,bass and keyboards—have just confirmed Internet rumors that they will open for the reunited Breeders at the first official Breeders show in four years. (The new Breeders have been playing in and around Los Angeles since December at unannounced shows.)
    The 14 July Low/Breeders performance at Chicago’s Congress Theater comes on the heels of The Breeders finishing up sessions for their comeback album, recorded last month with Low producer Steve Albini. Twins Kim and Kelly Deal, the core of The Breeders, first got back together two years ago to contribute to The Mod Squad soundtrack and promptly announced they’d release a new album in 1999... but better late than never, right? Their label 4AD is no doubt very pleased.
    Meanwhile, Alan Sparhawk’s other band, Black-Eyed Snakes, have finished recording their debut album and expect to release it by August accompanied by “...a few shows around the country [the US] in the fall.”
    Here are Low’s upcoming tour dates, with more expected as they are confirmed

July
13 - Minneapolis, MN (Orchestra Hall: 24-hour festival)
14 - Chicago, IL (Congress Theater, w/ The Breeders)

September
  1 - Seattle, WA Seattle (Bumbershoot Festival)

October
25 - Columbus, OH (Wexner Center at Ohio State University)
