The Cause to release EP on Ides Of March

San Diego straight edge/hardcore quartet The Cause, who’ve been through 11 members since drummer Jeremy Bates and vocalist/songwriter Christopher Greenslate founded the band in 1997, have finished recording a five track EP with producer Jeff Forrest (Blink-182, Kill Holiday, Buck-O-Nine). The current lineup includes Bates and Greenslate along with Josh Fleming on bass—with whom Greenslate founded New Left Records—and Jon Greene on guitar.
    Titled Human Condition, the new EP will hit stores in September on Revelation Records/Ides Of March Records (the latter founded by Shai Hulud’s Matt Fox). Tracks are Breaking Free, Mission Control, Paint The Sky, Suffocation, and Wilted By The Sun. Greenslate tells Rockbites that the band will tour sometime before the end of this year.
    You can hear The Cause now on the high energy gay rights benefit compilation For Those Who Stand, released on Tear It Down Records in January. In addition to The Cause, the album includes tracks by AFI, By The Grace Of God, Boy Sets Fire, International Noise Conspiracy, Shai Hulud, Snapcase, and others.
    You can also still get copies of the band’s 1999 split EP with San Diego’s American Tragedy. The benefit compilation and the split are both available at enlightened record stores, or you can order them directly from the label.
