Emiliana Torrini supporting Tricky for North Am dates 12 July 2001 A few years ago, by serendipity, the 23 year old singer/ songwriter/ producer met Roland Orzabal (of Tears For Fears) at Londons Heathrow airport. The two eventually collaborated on Torinnis first few singles and on her debut album Love In The Time Of Science. All came out the second half of 1999 on One Little Indian recordshome of The Sugarcubes and later of that bands singer, Björk. Since then Torrini has earned a following in Europe, but is still working on finding fans in the UK and the USwhere critics tend to dismiss her (stupidly) as a Björk clone. You can find a generous selection of full length MP3 audio and QuickTime videos on Torrinis official site. Here are her tour dates with Tricky; solo shows are starred July 18 - Toronto, ON (The Government) 20 - Boston, MA (The Avalon Ballroom) 21 - Philadelphia, PA (Theater Of The Living Arts) 23 - Washington, DC (9:30 Club) 25 - New York city, NY (Joes Pub*) August 3 - Portland, OR (Plan B) 9 - San Francisco, CA (The Fillmore) 10 - Pomona, CA (Glass House) 11 - San Diego, CA (Canes) 12 - Los Angeles, CA (TBA*) | Emiliana Torrini | | One Little Indian records (coming soon) | | Gus Gus | | discography | | top of page | |
