Departure Lounge hosting weekly radio show
12 July 2001

London ambient pop quartet Departure Lounge (formerly Homer Lounge, Homer, etc. and led by singer/songwriter Tim Keegan) have finished their every-other-Tuesday residency in Nashville at The Slow Bar, where they’ve been playing as a trio. Calling themselves The Living Room, they played their own songs and covered others from a panoply of artists including The Velvet Underground, The Carpenters, Abba, Guns 'n' Roses, Neil Young, Mötorhead, The Human League, Donovan, The Flaming Lips, Nick Drake, and more.
Now, for the summer session at Nashville’s Vanderbilt College, the band’s US contingent is hosting a weekly radio show during which they play music from their own collections along with new releases, and are previewing tracks from their forthcoming all-instrumental album due early September in the UK and the US. Titled Jetlag Dreams, they describe it as a “...beautiful soundtrack to a slow-motion travelogue, and definitely not some pretentious aviatory concept album, despite titles such as Runway Doubts and Equestrian Skydiving.”
In the Nashville area you can listen to the Departure Lounge show on WRVU at 91.1 FM. Elswhere you can tune in over the Web using RealAudio. The show runs 8 - 10 pm CDT Sundays (2 - 4 am BST Mondays) until school starts.
The Living Room plan to play one more show on 28 August at Nashville’s 12th And Porter. And Departure Lounge themselves play 3 August as part of the 4th Annual Big Weekend festival in Atlanta, Georgia, performing around 10:30 pm at the 40 Watt Club. | Departure Lounge | | WRVU-FM | | Big Weekend festival | | bio | | discography | | sample | | top of page |
