My Dad Is Dead finishing up first album in four years

Singer/ songwriter/ drummer Mark Edwards, founder, front man, and sole constant member for My Dad Is Dead, is making good progress on his first new album since 1997’s Everyone Wants The Honey But Not The Sting.
He has finished taping instrumental portions for 10 songs, and expects to get the record released this year “...Depending on Vital Cog’s release schedule and my discipline in finishing things up.”
Edwards is recording the new, not yet titled LP himself in his bedroom in Chapel Hill, Ohio, about 150 milies south of his former base of Cleveland. In June he announced that the move forced him to quit Uva Ursi, led by former My Dad Is Dead bassist Jeff Curtis. There’s a set of Uva Ursi recordings in the can, made while Edwards was still in the band and which may someday make it onto product. Meanwhile, Uva Ursi are looking for a drummer.
You can download Edwards’ first five albums, all out of print, in MP3 format from the Sounds page of his Web site. The page also includes some other goodies, including a 1990 BBC Peel sessions track featuring Guided By Voices’ Doug Gillard on guitar. | My Dad Is Dead | | MDID Sounds page | | Vital Cog Records | | bio | | discography | | sample from Everyone Wants The Honey But Not The Sting | | top of page |
