Momus tours western US, plays homeless benefit in NYC
8 January 2001

Hyper erudite Scottish songsmith Momus (Nicholas Currie)—he borrows his stage name from the Greek god of censure and mockery—plays a benefit show at New York City’s Fez on 31 January for The Partnership For The Homeless. Also playing will be Stars, Charming, Garlands, The Parcels, and My Favorite, plus other bands to be confirmed. You can purchase tickets in advance through online music source Insound or by calling the Fez box office at (+1) 212-533-7000.
The Partnership For The Homeless is the largest network of homeless shelters in the US, with a staff of 100 and a volunteer army of more than 11,000. The Fez show was organized by a couple of private citizens associated with the Partnership.
Leading up to the benefit, Momus plays seven west coast US dates starting 18 January at the Los Angeles Knitting Factory. The busy bard will also serve on a panel this Thursday (11 January) at the Future Of Music conference in Washington, DC, sponsored by the Future Of Music Coalition. The Coalition, whose founders include musicians, lawyers, and label insiders, works to forward the interests of musicians within the music industry.
Here are the upcoming Momus tour dates

January
18 - Los Angeles (Knitting Factory)
21 - Sacramento (The Capitol Garage)
22-23 - San Francisco (Bottom of The Hill)
25 - Portland (Reed College—students only)
26 - Portland (The Pine Street Balcony)
27 - Seattle (The Crocodile Cafe)
