The Stereo announce dissolution, rebirth
30 January 2001
image
Jamie Woolford, founder and musical linchpin for Minneapolis/Austin power pop band The Stereo, announced earlier this month that he and his band mates had amicably decided to go their separate ways. Woolford attributes differences in musical direction as the primary cause. He will continue alone as The Stereo, while former members Jeremy Bergo, Jeremy Tappero (aka JT), and Erik along with new drummer Chip have formed a band called Attention; they plan to tour the US later this year.
The Stereo’s second full length, No Traffic, hits stores semi-posthumously in early March on Florida-based Fueled By Ramen records. Just semi-posthumously, because Woolford composed, arranged, and performed most of the LP himself. Looking forward, he plans to first let his broken arm heal (he broke it earlier this month skateboarding, despite wearing full padding), then start work right away on another album. | The Stereo | | Fueled By Ramen | | discography | | CD | | top of page |
