The Rockbites end-of-year list for 2000 2 January 2001 Rockbites is very pleased to publish today its first annual end-of-year list, which boasts the unfortunately wordy title The Rockbites Alternative Daily (Woefully) Incomplete Year End List of (Mostly) Neglected Musical Treasures for 2000. The idea behind our list is to supplement, not compete with, the myriad lists already out there. As a music news Web site we’re very lucky in that small labels send us awsomely cool stuff, much of which seems to slip through the gratings and evade the notice of most music publications. To be fair, there’s way too much good music made each year for any publication to describe it all. But there’s way too much bad music being made each year (“90% of everything is shit.” —Theodore Sturgeon) for us not to try. You can think of the Rockbites list as a sweep-up of great records that shouldn’t have been dropped to the floor but were. So check it out. We hope it’s useful and interesting.
