Lords Of Acid return with 19 track 'Farstucker'
27 February 2001

Belgium’s techno-erotic collective Lords Of Acid, who’ve been promoting explicit sex in music and getting people off since 1988 (when they released their single I Sit On Acid, whose sole lyric is “I want to sit on your face.”), are back with a new high energy, highly erotic album on their longtime label Antler/Subway in association with Never Records. Founded by Praga Khan (born Maurice Engelen) with Niki Van Lierop (aka Jade 4 U) and Olivier Adams as one of many experimental projects, LoA has become his most successful, with a shockingly devoted fan base (check the guest book on their site).
The new album, Farstuckers, brings with it a new front woman, Belgian former model and TV host Deborah Ostrega. She sometimes performs pantyless with LoA and says she landed the job by tongue-kissing everyone in the band backstage at a show—but was herself shocked the first time she saw audience members fucking—a typical occurence, according to Khan, who says in the February Penthouse magazine “People will jump up on our stage, take their clothes off, and start to have sex. Sometimes when I’m trying to play my keyboards, it makes it a little hard to concentrate.”
Farstuckers, for a sex-centric disc, is remarkably rich and varied—with heaviness, hotness, hardness, and humor in pretty much equal measures. From high BPM techno (Scrood Bi U, A Ride With Satan’s Little Helpers) to groove paced rockers (Rover Take Over, The Stripper) to loungey or just plain strange interregnums (Take Off, Surfin’ Munchees, Dark Lover Rising) to retro Flying Lizards-like new wave (I Like It) to truly twisted porno soundtrack (Pain & Pleasure Concerto, Lick My Chakra), Farstuckers is quite the trip. More musically literate than 99% of the crap on commercial radio, this is not to be played at the office or in the presence of Bush Republicans. Three bites out of five.

Rockbites ratings  5: life changing, 4: stunning, 3: captivating, 2: amusing, 1: annoying.
