The Breeders appearance postponed due to fire fear
21 February 2001

Just four days before a scheduled appearance in Los Angeles, reunited Pixies spinoff band The Breeders have been asked to sit out the upcoming benefit show for runaways charity Children Of The Night. The management of Mr. T’s Bowl, the LA venue which houses The Hot Pants Club, fears they’ll be forced to shut down by the fire department due to an overcapacity audience. Despite zero advertisting, they say they’ve received more than 500 calls regarding the upcoming show “...from all over the world.”
The previously announced Breeders’ signed items and memorabilia will still be for sale during the Sunday benefit (including a one-of-a-kind wool bag handmade by Kelley Deal). Lots of other signed stuff will be on sale or raffled as well, including items signed by members of Fear—whose bassist Mondo Lopez and guitarist Richard Presley play in the re-formed Breeders. All sales will benefit Children Of The Night, a Van Nuys, California non-profit organization that works to help children forced into prostitution to break free and live healthier lives. You can find out more, or get info on giving donations, on the COTN site.
Confirmed for this Sunday’s (25 February) show are 17 acts, including Pixies’ drummer David Lovering’s new band, the David Lovering Science Experiment.
Hot Pants Club organizers say The Breeders will perform in the near future, but the date will be held secret until just before the show. | The Breeders | | Hot Pants club | | Children Of The Night | | discography | | sample | | top of page |
