Guided By Voices touring US east coast, ready new LP

Having played two sold out nights at Chicago’s Empty Bottle earlier this week, Dayton, Ohio lo-fi pop collective Guided By Voices start a US east coast tour tonight with a sold out show at New York’s Bowery Ballroom. They continue with a pair of dates this weekend, then start a week of gigs with Elf Power on 1 March.
    GBV are previewing their upcoming album Isolation Drills, due 3 April on TVT records—their first new LP since 1999’s Do The Collapse. Their only 2000 release was their 100-song, four-CD box set compilation Suitcase: Failed Experiments And Trashed Aircraft, with previously unreleased tracks chronicling 25 years of GBV.
    The track listing on the upcoming Isolation Drills is Fair Touching, Skills Like This, Chasing Heather Crazy, Frostman, Twilight Campfighter, Sister I Need Wine, Want One?, The Enemy, Unspirited, Glad Girls, Run Wild, Pivotal Film, How’s My Drinking?, The Brides Have Hit Glass, Fine To See You, and Privately.
    You’ll also find new GBV material on the forthcoming Colonel Jeffery Pumpernickel various artists concept album, due 20 March and featuring, among others, Sebadoh/The Folk Implosion’s Lou Barlow, ex-Pavement front man Steve Malkmus, Quasi, The Minus 5, and former Bongwater vocalist Ann Magnuson. The Guided By Voices contribution is titled Strident Wet Nurse, and two versions appear on the disc.
