The Clientele to release debut for USA with bonus tracks

London ’60s-retro art-pop trio The Clientele have signed with US indie label Merge Records to release their debut album Suburban Light. It’s due 17 April and will include three tracks unavailable on the British version.
Suburban Light, out this past November in the UK, collects work recorded by the band over a span of two years including out-of-print singles, EPs, various-artists contributions, and some previously unreleased songs. They describe their sound as a pastiche drawing from Felt and Galaxie 500; others have likened them to Arthur Lee’s Love, Lou Reed, and The Beatles. You can get a taste on the Sounds page on their Web site, which offers several minute-long high quality RealAudio clips.
The Clientele toured the US east coast early last year and hope to return soon supporting the Merge release. They don’t have any forthcoming UK or Europe gigs announced. | The Clientele | | (I Want You) More Than Ever (RealAudio clip) | | bio | | top of page |
