The Hives plan brief world tour around forthcoming single
28 December 2001

Up and coming Swedish garage-rock five piece The Hives received a major leg up this year when Creation Records founder Alan McGee signed them to his new Poptones label and put out a UK compilation of their first and second LPs, Veni Vidi Vicious and Barely Legal. The new album, Your New Favourite Band, hit retail in October and currently sits pretty in the top 5 of Amazon UK’s sales.
The Hives are set to release the UK only single Hate To Say I Told You So on 11 February. They’ve planned a quick world tour between now and then, starting with a New Year’s Eve performance at The Falls Festival in Melbourne, Australia and continuing through 9 February for a closer at the Hope & Grape in Manchester, England.
They’re missing North America this time ’round (they just played the US, plus one lone date in Canada), but Stateside fans shouldn’t have to wait too long. The Hives, previously with Gearhead Records and Burning Heart, have signed with Big Wheel Recreation for US distribution, and the Boston indie label has started to release material. Last month they made available the band’s Main Offender single on 7" vinyl and enhanced CD. On their Website, the band promise Canadian fans in particular that they’ll return soon with many more shows.
