UPDATED 28 Dec 2001: In January, North Carolina rockabilly rascals Southern Culture On The Skids head into their own Kudzu Ranch Studios to record their ninth album and the followup to last year’s Liquored Up And Lacquered Down. The new, not yet titled LP won’t hit stores until next fall on TVT Records—but fans in the southeastern US can look forward to a sneak preview of some new material when the band hit the road in February for their annual winter outing.
Scheduled to run 21 February through 16 March, the tour is shorter than usual to give the band time to work on the album, but it will cover more territory than usual: from Miami, Florida to Fayetteville, Arkansas. SCOTS are also working out plans to stage a wider US tour and a possible world tour hitting Europe and Australia in late April into May.
Just before the band start recording they’re playing a few dates, which are

December
28 - Atlantic Beach, NC (Ziggy’s By The Sea)
29 - Winston-Salem, NC (Ziggy’s)
31 - New York city, NY (The Village Underground)

And on New Year’s Eve, before their Village Underground sound check, the band will tape a live performance for NBC television’ Conan O’Brien show—to air on New Year’s Day night. | Southern Culture On The Skids | | Corn Liquor (MP3 sample) | | TV Guide online | | discography | | top of page |
