Pete Astor readies two new albums for 2002

London experimental artist Pete Astor, aka The Wisdom Of Harry, is working on songs for his next album—not yet titled and due sometime in 2002. It will follow his 2000 LP House Of Binary, which was Astor’s first album conceived as such. Prior to that he released mostly vinyl singles.
Of the forthcoming LP, Astor writes “At the moment it’s getting simpler and simpler... vocals & guitar, drums and sound... like JJ Cale meets King Tubby if only JJ wasn’t so damned laid back, contented, and American, and King Tubby was alive and English and played songs like Buell Kazee.”
Astor is also working on a compilation album for his other project, Ellis Island Sound, whose other member, David Sheppard, is a sometime Wisdom Of Harry collaborator and plays in State River Widening. The set will appear on Heavenly, to which Ellis Island Sound just signed, and will include tracks previously available only on vinyl along with remixes the pair have done for a variety of bands including Manic Street Preachers and Regular Fries.
