The Notwist post full-length video from forthcoming LP
19 December 2001

Berlin experimental collective The Notwist have been ramping up to a January/February release of their sixth studio full length, Neon Golden, with a couple of EPs out this fall, a downloadable MP3 remix last month, a spiffy new sub-site courtesy of their label, and now a full length QuickTime video for album track Pilot for free download from the City Slang records Website.
The Notwist (vocalist/guitarist Markus Acher, bassist Micha Acher, programmer/keyboards player Martin Gretschmann, drummer Mecki Messerschmidt) have been evolving their unique musical vision—spanning hardcore, electronica, jazz, etc.—for 12 years. Busy with other projects—including Lali Puna and the Acher brothers’ other band The Tied + Tickled Trio, scoring film soundtracks, and touring—it’s been three years since the last Notwist album.
Sessions for Neon Golden began in spring of 2000 with Berlin production team Galore (Mario Thaler and o.l.a.f. Opal, who’ve also worked with Readymade). At the time the band did not have a recording contract. City Slang eventually beat out offers from Matador, Mute, PIAS, V2, and others. This past April, Neon Golden was mastered at London’s Abbey Road studios.
The new LP comes out 14 January 2002 for Germany and 4 February for the UK. There’s no date set for a North American release. | The Notwist | | The Notwist on City Slang | | Pilot (full length QuickTime) | | top of page |
