Scottish downtempo noise trio Aereogramme, taken under the wing of famed London DJ John Peel, are on their way to the 2002 EuroSonic Festival in Gronigen, Holland on 11 January.
The festival is Europe’s premiere showcase for new bands, attended by radio DJs from around the world—each of whom sponsors a band of their choice. The keynote speaker for this year’s EuroSonic will be Chicago-based producer Steve Albini.
Aereogramme’s festival spot is their first gig on a two week European tour, which continues in Germany, Switzerland, and Belgium before returning to Holland for a couple of shows.
The one day EuroSonic Festival on the 11th is followed on Saturday by the Noorderslag Festival which focuses on Dutch music; together the events are known as the Norrderslag Weekend. Among the 99 confirmed bands for EuroSonic are Aereogramme (UK), Jaya The Cat (US), Kwan (Finland), Leaves (Iceland), Liquid (Netherlands), Maximilian Hecker (Germany), Millionaire (Belgium), Negative Space Cowboys (Ireland), Stereo Total (Germany), and The Wray Gun (Portugal). | Aereogramme on Chemikal Underground | | EuroSonic Festival | | top of page |
