Mercury Rev live chat on Bowienet
10 December 2001

Upstate New York surrealists Mercury Rev, on a US tour having returned from playing Europe, play tonight (Monday) in Washington, DC. Before the show they chat live on David Bowie’s Bowienet starting at 7 pm EST (midnight Monday, GMT). They’re promoting their 2001 album All Is Dream, which just last week received the honor/notoriety of landing in the top 10 on the 2001 Top 50 list from British paper New Musical Express.
Bowienet is a subscription Web site so you can chat only if you are a member. Joining costs about $6 per month, with a bit of a break if you sign up for a year. The band, in a note on their Website, suggest that Bowie and producer Tony Visconti may join the discussion.
Mercury Rev’s second single from All Is Dream, opening track The Dark Is Rising, will be available in three formats, each with different bonus material. The CD-1 version’s extra tracks will be Chopin’s Nocturne in C# minor - Opus 27 No. 1 and Black Sabbath’s Planet Caravan. CD-2’s extras are live versions of Spiders And Flies and Blue Skies. A DVD version of the single will feature a live version of The Dark Is Rising, recorded at the 2001 Reading Festival, b/w Chopin’s Prelude in E Flat Minor - Opus 48 No. 4, and a live version of Tides Of The Moon. The DVD will also include a Mercury Rev picture gallery and previously unreleased footage from their 2001 European tour.
