Melting Pot venue changed yet again, schedule trimmed
31 August 2001

The star crossed, first ever southern California Melting Pot festival, with nearly 4 dozen artists confirmed, has been forced to change venues yet again at the last second. In July organizers abandoned plans to set up at a secret desert location after land management officials got wind of the event. A private landowner stepped forward with an offer to host the three day indie festival. In the last few weeks bands confirmed and organizers posted a packed three day schedule from 31 August through 2 September. But it turns out that the private land owner was under orders to cease and desist operations.
Co-organizer Sash Hedrick, who manages the Hot Pants club at Mr. T’s in Los Angeles, said “The enforcement people told me The Ponderosa got cited in 1999 and was told not to have anymore shows outside. They are not even supposed to have the bar and have no permits or permission to have shows inside or outside... The owner totally lied to me....”
A smaller scale festival is now on for this weekend at the Hot Pants club. Here’s the lineup
