Third Annual Best of SF East Coast Acoustic Tour
5 April 2001
image
The Third Annual Best of San Francisco East Coast Acoustic Tour kicks off this year at Columbia University’s Postcrypt club in New York on 20 April. It is a one-of-a-kind, east (US) meets west (US) cultural exchange which brings a taste of the San Francisco music scene to US east coast audiences.
The tour is masterminded, organized, and brought to fruition by SF music promoter, activist, and singer/songwriter Ian Brennan—who also plays on all the dates.
Artists on this year’s tour include Caroleen Beatty (of Waycross), Brennan, Etienne de Rocher, Dr. Frank (of the Mr. T Experience), Michele Kappel (of The Kirby Grips), Chuck Prophet, Madigan Shive (of Bonfire Madigan), Noe Venable, and Michael Zapruder. Following tour tradition, each show will include a local (east coast) artist. A labor of love, the tour just hopes to break even. But any profits will go to the CAHEED (California Association for Health, Education, Employment, and Dignity) daycare center.
Between Acoustic Tours, Brennan hosts a free Monday night music showcase series in a San Francisco café/laundromat (BrainWash at 1122 Folsom St., +1 415-255-4866), now in its fourth year. The series has been covered by Time and the Smithsonian magazine, and featured on most major US television networks. He also produces the San Francisco Unscrubbed: Live From the Laundromat CD series.
