The annual South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival in Austin, Texas has posted the first installment of a QuickTime movie gallery online, containing streaming audio+video of music performances from last month’s five day music festival—part of this year’s 10 day SXSW festivals and conferences. Available now are QuickTime movies of live music by Bauer (Amsterdam), Fantasy’s Core (Nagasaki), Genitallica (Monterrey, Mexico), Silver Scooter (Austin), Prayer Boat (Ireland), Japancakes (Athens, Georgia), Chris Mills (Chicago), Das Boot (Tokyo), The Peenbeets (Austin), the Essex Green (Brooklyn), Yngwie J. Malmsteen’s Rising Force (Stockholm), and From Bubblegum To Sky (Alameda, California).
You can also watch video-on-demand of the keynote presentation by Ray Davies (The Kinks), a wide range of interviews and Q&A sessions, and presentations including the 2001 Web Awards.
Next year’s SXSW is set for 8-18 March 2002, with registration available from 1 September this year. In the meantime, organizers invite you to purchase SXSW 2001 shirts, hats, bags, posters, lighters, and keychains from their online store. | SXSW 2001 multimedia coverage | | SXSW online store | | Japancakes performance from SXSW (QuickTime) | | top of page |
