Three decades hence, Neu! to be released on CD 26 April 2001 Neu! came together in Dusseldorf in 1971 as an experimental collaboration between Klaus Dinger and Michael Rother, both of whom had just left Kraftwerk. The bands first incarnation lasted scarcely two years, during which time they produced the albums Neu! and Neu! 2. They reunited long enough in 1975 to assemble their final album, Neu! 75. Compilations and bootlegs have surfaced now and then over the decades, but it wasnt until Dinger and Rother and their lawyers got on the same page recently that the CD reissue series could materialize. Artists claiming influence by Neu! include, among many others, David Bowie, Julian Cope, Brian Eno (who, by the way, releases a new album in collaboration with German DJ J. Peter Schwalm next month), Loop, Radiohead, Sonic Youth, and Stereolab. | fan site | | Michael Rother (in German) | | Neu! profile written 1994 | | Astralwerks Records | | bio | | discography | | top of page | |
