Air announce new LP, US summer tour
24 April 2001

As Rockbites first mentioned this past October, Parisian electronica duo Air have been working on a new album for release this spring. Their US label Astralwerks has now announced the title and release date: 10,000 Hz Legend, available for North America and France on 29 May and the day before for most of the rest of the world. It is their second studio album per se, following their breakthrough 1998 debut Moon Safari, an assortment of remix/collection discs, and last year’s soundtrack to The Virgin Suicides.
Recorded and mixed alternately in Paris and Los Angeles, 10,000 Hz. Legend includes guest appearances by Beck (vocals on The Vagabond, spoken poetry on Don’t Be Light), drummer Brian Reitzell (ex Redd Kross), and Sugar and Yumiko (from Buffalo Daughter).
Reitzell will be in Air’s touring band this summer along with Jason Falkner (singer/songwriter, working recently with Reitzell and Beck’s keyboards player Roger Manning Jr. as Softcore) on bass and vocals, James Rotundi on keyboards, and Air themseves, of course—Jean-Benoit Dunckel and Nicolas Godin.
Opening for Air on all dates will be 25 year old Parisian Sébastien Tellier, signed to Air’s own Record Makers label for a debut album due early June.
