Ultimate Fakebook ready split EP for late summer

Kansas 3-piece Ultimate Fakebook, making ’00s music in the tradition of ’70s power pop à la Brits Elvis Costello and Dave Edmunds, flirted with a major label last year (Sony/Epic/550 Music, who re-released their second LP This Will Be Laughing Week) but are now officially an indie band once more. In January they recorded tracks with Ed Rose (The Creature Comforts, Tenderloin, Ruskabank, Paw, and the two UF albums) to be released later this year on a split EP with Reggie And The Full Effect. Not yet titled, the disc will appear on Heroes And Villains, the label run by The Get-Up Kids.
    This Friday, Ultimate Fakebook start a six-week North American tour, most dates with MXPX—who release a new EP of their own on 22 May titled The Renaissance EP. The Ultimate Fakebook tour kickoff show is a benefit for the Overland Park, Kansas Children’s Mercy Hospital. Here are all the dates
