19 April 2001

New Brunswick born singer/songwriter Julie Doiron, once bassist for Eric’s Trip and previously known as Broken Girl, has been working solo and pursuing a variety of collaborations these past few years. In 1999 Doiron released a crushingly beautiful record with Ottawa’s The Wooden Stars. Last month she appeared as guest vocalist on Gordon Downie’s new solo album Coke Machine Glow, available online from Canada’s MapleMusic.com.
Tonight in Montréal at Petit Campus Doiron begins a month-long tour of northeast Canada and the US. The tour picks up next Wednesday in her hometown of Moncton and continues through late May, with dates still being confirmed.
Doiron hopes to tour Europe this year—check back for updates. And you’ll find her singing on four new songs on the upcoming album by Snailhouse—Wooden Stars founder Mike Feuerstack’s other band. This week she is in Little Bullhorn studio working on an all French-language album.
