English drum & bass artist Photek (Rupert Parkes, a.k.a. Code Of Practice, Aquarius, Studio Pressure, The Truper, Sentinel) releases an all new 11 track LP on Astralwerks in the US and on Virgin/Science in the UK the week of 18 September. Titled Solaris, the track listing is Terminus, Junk, Glamourama, Mine To Give, Can’t Come Down, Infinity, Solaris, Aura, Halogen, Lost Blue Heaven, and Under The Palms.
An early review on Amazon UK praises the set: “Intense, stripped back and wielding more brute force than Leftfield’s 'Swords', there’s a menacing beauty at work here that reinforces Photek’s reputation for tingling sonic sculpturing on a grand scale.” The track Mine To Give features legendary Chicago house vocalist Robert Owens.
US label Astralwerks has posted six full length streaming RealAudio tracks from the new album, and will soon re-launch their Photek site. Till then you can navigate their existing site—about to be taken down—set up a couple of years ago for Photek’s semi-compilation Form + Function. | Photek on Astralwerks | | Photek RealAudio from Solaris | | CD from Amazon UK | | bio | | discography | | sample | | CD | | top of page |
