Fugazi off to Scandinavia; Dischord readies Anniversary CD
27 September 2000

Washington, DC hardcore/anti-corporate soldiers Fugazi land in Sweden this week for a two week tour of Scandinavia. They’ll play nine dates in all, ending with a show in Helsinki, Finland.
Fugazi founder Ian MacKaye hit the stage twenty years ago with his previous band Minor Threat, formed from the shards of his high school band The Teen Idles. That same year (1980) he and Minor Threat drummer Jeff Nelson formed Dischord Records. In 1987 MacKaye went on to form Fugazi, whose first decade was documented in the 1999 feature film Instrument.
Dischord Records is putting together a 20th Anniversary double CD along with a 128 page booklet. The set includes a song from every band ever released by the label. It’s enough work that the Dischord Web site says they may not make their deadline for a mid-November release.
Here are Fugazi’s upcoming Scandinavian tour dates

30 - Umeå, Sweden (Galaxen)

October
  1 - Stockholm, Sweden (Kolingsborg)
  2 - Oslo, Norway (Rockefeller)
