Laika’s North American tour
23 September 2000

London techno/dance/experimentalists Laika—former members of Moonshake plus the drummer from God & Eardrum and an ex producer/engineer for Moonshake, The Breeders, and My Bloody Valentine—released their third album Good Looking Blues in February in the UK, last month in the US. On Blues they enlisted the help of some highly talented friends including flautist Louise Elliott, DJ Danny Doyle, drummer Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey), and Matt Barge (Spleen).
Laika played at the Leeds/Reading festivals in August and at another festival in Palermo, Sicily three weeks ago.
On Monday they start a two week US/Canada tour with a show at the Crocodile Cafe in Seattle. If you’re lucky enough to be in or near Chicago on 3 October, you can indulge with a double bill at the Double Door that includes one of Rockbites’ faves, adventurous livetronic trio TRS-80 (Jay Rajeck on drums, Deb Schimmel and Kent Rayhill on keyboards and samples)—who recently signed to Martin Atkins’ Invisible Records for the release of their debut LP The Manhattan Love Machine. | Laika | | Laika on Too Pure | | TRS-80 | | tour dates | | discography | | sample | | CD | | top of page |
