Exclusive: Adventures In Stereos truly hidden track 23 September 2000 And we wont tell you how to find it either, but heres a clue: reviewers always check to see if there are additional tracks on a disc beyond those indicated on the sleeve, and check to see if the final track is followed by a stretch of silence and then another song or three. With these strategies everyone has missed it. Beattie told us that he had to employ special programming on the CD master to do it. (Some CD-ROM drives just cant get to the secret track.) The mysterious untitled piece is 4 minutes 49 seconds of hypnotic jazz dub, sans vocals save the occasional unintelligible word. Its a cunningly cool counterpoint to the rest of the album, especially given its placement. If you just cant find the secret Monomania track or perhaps dont believe its there, drop us a line and well tell all. Were transcribing our Jim Beattie/Judith Boyle interview and expect to post it in the near future. | Rockbites review of Monomania | | Bobsled Records | | bio | | discography | | sample | | CD | | top of page | |
