Jello Biafra to speak at ChangeMusic festival 12 September 2000
Biafra recently ran as a presidential candidate for the Green Party, selecting convicted cop killer/innocent political prisoner (take your pick) Mumia Abu-Jamal as his running mate. Biafra, who graciously deferred to Ralph Nader when Nader won the slot as expected, outlined a platform including the establishment of a maximum wage—capping the income of a company’s highest paid employee in terms of a multiple of the income of its lowest paid employee. Twenty years ago he staged a campaign for mayor of San Francisco during which he proposed a law to require business persons to wear clown suits. Over the years Biafra has collaborated with a varity of bands including Tumor Circus, Mojo Nixon, Lard, and Nomeansno, as well as releasing several spoken word albums.
