Bratmobile return with heartfelt, solid rocker 6 October 2000 Formed bicoastally in Washington State and D.C. back in 1991, the band now call the San Francisco Bay Area home. They toured Europe last year with The Donnas and take off on 17 October for six weeks around the US playing various dates with Gene Defcon, The Lapse, The Aislers Set, and other bands. Bratmobiles new album Ladies, Women and Girls (available on vinyl and CD in the US on 24 October) is deceptive in its lack of pretention. The production is as vanilla as the songs are heartfelt, provocative, and solid. Its not as noisy as some of their older stuff, which might disappoint a few fans. And the songsall great in terms of lyric, melody, and deliveryperhaps arent as well framed or carefully lit as they could be, which might leave some critics and even some normal people thinking theres not much there. But for those who take the time to delve into the album (remember how it took a few listens to get The Buzzcocks?) theres ample reward. Ladies, Women and Girls is a fun, energizing, and affecting album that I cannot get out of my head.
