Badly Drawn Boy tours UK & US, LP out this week
4 October 2000

Last month Manchester techno artist/singer-songwriter Badly Drawn Boy (Damon Gough) beat Coldplay, Leftfield, Death In Vegas, and some other press favorites and outstanding talents to win the fourth annual Mercury Music Prize, the UK’s most prestigious music award. Upon winning Gough said “I am not calling myself a winner—I'm just someone put up here to shake like a leaf... It seems fickle to say but I do not know how to make a song. I’m not like Lauryn Hill saying it’s a gift from God. I’ll go home tomorrow and I can’t write for toffee....”
This week saw the belated US release of his debut album The Hour Of Bewilderbeast, out since June in the UK.
BDB, back from three days in Japan, recently added a London show on 30 October to his upcoming UK tour. And he’s just announced that he’ll be staging his premiere US tour next month starting 3 November at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston, running through 17 November with a closer at the Knitting Factory in Los Angeles. | Badly Drawn Boy | | tour dates | | bio | | discography | | sample | | CD | | top of page |
