Mogwai working on new album for 2001
25 October 2000

Scottish post rock experimentalists Mogwai left Glasgow based Chemikal Underground records earlier this year without a new contract. They’ve now signed with Belgium based Play It Again Sam (PIAS) records and are still with New York indie label Matador for the US.
Mogwai are working intently on a new studio album with producer Dave Fridmann—who also produced 1999’s well received Come On Die Young. The new set is tentatively scheduled for a March 2001 release. (Besides Mogwai, Fridmann is known for his fine work with The Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, Sparklehorse, and Elf Power.)
Matador says “...we are expecting something substantially different from the last Mogwai album. For one thing, they’ll probably call it something else and manage to come up with a new sleeve. Beyond that, you’re just gonna have to wait.” | Mogwai | | discography | | sample | | top of page |
