Sleater-Kinney taking a two year break
24 October 2000

Olympia, Washington punk/pop trio Sleater-Kinney (Carrie Brownstein, Corin Tucker, and Janet Weiss) have been especially busy this year, touring Europe once and the US twice, not to mention releasing The Hot Rock and performing on The Go-Betweens’ comeback album The Friends Of Rachel Worth. Now they want a break.
On Friday guitarist/vocalist Brownstein, also in The Spells, told the story and layed out some plans: “I am pleased to announce that Sleater-Kinney is taking some time off. During this break I plan on taking classes in Seattle, writing, reading, exercising, cooking, and seeing films. Mary [Timony, ex-Helium vocalist] and I are (slowly) working on a full length Spells record but I am mostly interested in non-musical activities during these coming months. As for S-K, we will slowly begin writing songs but I don't think we’ll have another record out until Fall 2002.” | Sleater-Kinney | | discography | | sample | | CD | | top of page |
