Glam tribute CD set for January 2001 release

Los Angeles indie imprint Conspiracy Music announced last week that they’ll be releasing a ’70s glam rock tribute LP on 30 January 2001 titled Rodney Bingenheimer Presents Blockbuster—A 70s Glitter Glam Rock Experience. The collection features new recordings by more than a dozen bands (including some can’t miss collaborations) playing hits and hidden treasures of the era including Gary Glitter’s Rock And Roll (Part 2), Suzi Quatro’s Can The Can, and T-Rex’s Raw Ramp.
    The album’s lead track, Rock And Roll (Part 2), is played by The Tube Tops 2000: Eric Erlandson (Hole), Melissa Auf der Maur (ex Hole, soon to be ex Smashing Pumpkins), Clem Burke (Blondie), Pat Fear (White Flag), and Kathy Valentine (The Go Gos). Other high points are The Donnas playing The Sweet’s Wig-Wam Bam, OtherStarPeople (featuring Jennifer Finch, ex L7) playing Bowie’s Suffragette City, and Nick Heyward (ex Haircut 100) playing T-Rex’s Hot Love.
