Sad Rockets release third instrumental LP 23 October 2000 Pekler was born in Uzbekistan, raised in Marin County north of San Francisco, and recently moved from Heidelberg to Berlin. He recorded Transition over a 16 month stretch starting December 1998 with help from drummer Steffen Neuert and violinist Kyros Khoschlessan. Transition evokes images of 60s TV spy shows, 70s ECM records, and alien lounge jazz. It manages to sound subdued, soothing, breathtaking, and aggressive at once. Very tasty. It follows Sad Rockets 1998 release Plays, still available from Amazon UK, and 1999s Once Upon A Time Called Now, available from Amazon Germany. CDnow in the US stocks all three albums. When hes not creating for Sad Rockets, Pekler plays in post Krautrock bands Bergheim 34 and Mucus 2. Rockbites enthusiastically recommends Sad Rockets Transition. | Sad Rockets on Matador | | Twenty-six (full length MP3) | | Plays (Amazon UK) | | Once Upon A Time Called Now (Amazon Germany) | | bio | | discography | | sample from Once Upon A Time Called Now | | CD | | top of page | |
