Badly Drawn Boy revises lyrics over copyright challenge
19 October 2000

Manchester singer/composer and 2000 Mercury Music Prize winner Damon Gough aka Badly Drawn Boy has excised 16 words from his song Magic In The Air following a copyright challenge from music rights organization BMG. The words are from American singer Taja Sevelle’s 1987 song Love Is Contagious. New versions of Gough’s prize winning The Hour Of Bewilderbeast contain an altered version of Magic In The Air, missing the contentious passage.
BDB, back from three days in Japan, recently added a London show on 30 October to his upcoming UK tour. And he’s just announced that he’ll be staging his premiere US tour next month starting 3 November at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston, running through 17 November with a closer at the Knitting Factory in Los Angeles. | Badly Drawn Boy | | tour dates | | bio | | discography | | sample | | top of page |
