NFBs teen documentary Salt premieres in Montréal 16 October 2000 Co-director Amber Goodwyn named the film after watching a salt truck clear snow from the roads: Thats us! Were melting away stereotypes about ourselves and other kids. Goodwyn attends the Moving In New Directions (MIND) high school in Montréal along with co-directors Morgan Gage, Karen Shamy-Smith, and Beverly Brown. They worked with supervising director Louise Leroux of the NFB. Musical artists featured in Salt include Hole/Smashing Pumpkins bassist Melissa Auf Der Maur, Canadian singer/songwriter Julie Doiron, The Ripcordz, and others. Salt premieres Wednesday 18 October at Cinema Parallèle in Montréal, after which The Ripcordz and Julie Doiron play an all-ages show at LX. Salt will see additional screenings this week in Québec and Newfoundland, with details available on the NFB site.
