13 October 2000

British music paper NME reports that Brit rock legends The Who are working with the Wooden Spoon Society’s London based Teenage Cancer Trust unit to stage an all-star benefit concert on 27 November at the Royal Albert Hall. While only The Who are confirmed, rumor has it that Noel Gallagher (Oasis), Paul Weller (Style Council, The Jam), and Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) will perform.
The Teenage Cancer Trust raises funds to build treatment units, in existing hospitals, specially for the treatment of adolescents with cancer. In the UK cancer hits one in 300 boys and one in 420 girls before the age of 20.
Tickets are on sale now from the Albert Hall box office, which you can email at sales@alberthall.co.uk | NME story | | Royal Albert Hall | | Teenage Cancer Trust info | | Pete Townshend | | discography | | sample from Best Of | | top of page |
