Ray Davies, who joined as singer for his brother Dave’s R&B band The Kinks and transformed the quartet into British Invasion icons back in 1964, will keynote the 2001 edition of Austin, Texas’ South By Southwest (SXSW) Music And Media Conference.
The annual conference/music festival features several hundred bands performing around Austin over 5 days. It takes place 14-18 March next year. Related film and interactive events begin on 9 March. This Friday (1 December) is the deadline for the current registration rate, US$350 for music events, $515 for the full conference including the SXSW Film and SXSW Interactive conferences. Registration goes up again on 12 January, 9 February, and at the door; full walk-up prices are $500 for the music portion and $795 for everything.
Davies, active in music, film, and television for the past 35 years, will release a solo LP in 2001 on Capitol. | SXSW | | The Kinks | | Dave Davies | | top of page |
