Television reunite—All Tommorow’s Parties goes US
29 November 2000

’70s New York new wave quartet Television—Tom Verlaine (born Tom Miller), Richard Lloyd, Fred Smith, and Billy Ficca—are reuniting again to play the 2001 edition of the annual All Tomorrow’s Parties festival on the southeast coast of England. The festival takes place 6-8 April and will also feature Boards Of Canada, Broadcast, Calexico, Cannibal Ox, Company Flow, the Ex, Femi Kuti, The Sun Ra Arkestra, Savath & Savalis, The Sea And Cake, and Yo La Tengo. Bands are being selected this year by Chicago post rockers Tortoise. The All Tomorrow’s Parties roster will continue to grow over the next several weeks.
Television’s brief and incendiary five year career, including just two years making records, ended in 1978 but not before changing the face of pop music. They reunited briefly in 1992 for one album.
The first installment of a US version of All Tomorrow’s Parties is now confirmed for 19-21 October 2001 at the University of California at Los Angeles. NME reports a rumor that the curators for that event will be Sonic Youth, but no hint yet as to whether Television will play. | NME story | | Television fan site | | All Tomorrow's Parties | | Richard Lloyd | | bio | | discography | | sample from Marquee Moon (1977) | | top of page |
