Critically adored Duluth, Minnesota slo-core trio Low, back from a European tour, have recorded a new album with Chicago-based musician/producer Steve Albini (Big Black, The Pixies, Nine Inch Nails, Wire). The album, apparently titled Things We Lost In The Fire, is set for release next year. The first EP from the album, Dinosaur Act, is out now with non-LP tracks Overhead and Don’t Carry It All. You can get the EP directly from Low’s Web site or from online retailers such as AB-CD.com.
The track listing for the new album is tentatively Sunflower, White Tail, Dinosaur Act, Medicine And Magazine, Laser Beam, July, Embrace, Whore, Kind Of Girl, Like A Forest, Closer, Funny Noise, and In Metal.
The band are also re-releasing their limited edition 1999 Christmas EP shortly. That EP, along with their 1999 LP Secret Name, both appeared on UK music mag NME’s top 50 list for last year.
Low—Alan Sparhawk (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Mimi Parker (vocals, percussion), and Zak Sally (bass, keyboards)—taped a show with legendary DJ John Peel while in England this fall. You can hear the entire 44 minute broadcast, featuring previously unreleased songs including the new Dinosaur Act, in RealAudio on demand by clicking our link. | Low | | Low on BBC's Peel Sessions | | Peel Session audio feed | | bio | | discography | | sample from Secret Name | | top of page |
