London minimalist psychedelic/folk duo It’s Jo And Danny (Jo Bartlett and Danny Hagen), previously in a string of bands together including Blue Train, Go! Service, and Jumprope Plaza, have signed to the BMG label and are set to enter the studio next month to record their second album. It will follow their previously released Playing For Kicks EP and their debut LP Lank Haired Girl To Bearded Boy, both on their own Double Snazzy label and released only in the UK. Their work so far has earned them comparisons to The Beta Band, Super Furry Animals, Primal Scream, and CSNY (!).
In Holland earlier this month for the Crossing Borders festival, they chatted to state run Dutch radio station VPRO. Jo freely revealed that she has no attachment to obscurity and would be well pleased to sell lots of records. You can listen to a RealAudio archive of the interview, along with four songs, by clicking our link—forward to 19 minutes into the feed to get to the start of the interview. | It’s Jo And Danny | | Interview + songs from Dutch VPRO radio | | Lank Haired Girl To Bearded Boy (from Amazon UK) | | discography | | CD | | top of page |
