Moncton, New Brunswick native turned Montréaler, singer/songwriter Julie Doiron aka Broken Girl and previously with Eric’s Trip, opens an exhibit of her own photographs on 2 December in Waterloo, Ontario at The Jane Bond gallery. The collaborative exhibit includes drawings by Jon Claytor. Doiron will perform. She’s also playing a one-off tomorrow evening at 8 pm at Café Campus in Montréal.
Doiron’s most recent album was the eerily pleasant Julie Doiron And The Wooden Stars, released this past spring. Last month she released three new songs on the Shanti Project Collection II compilation from Bad Man Records, which also includes tracks by Low’s Mimi Parker, Tarnation’s Paula Frazer, Kristin Hersh (ex Throwing Muses), Edith Frost, Rebecca Gates (ex Spinnanes), and Melissa Auf Der Maur (ex Hole, Smashing Pumpkins). Some proceeds from the album benefit San Francisco’s non profit Shanti Project, which provides AIDS and HIV counseling and assistance. | Julie Doiron | | Shanti Project II CD | | Fan site | | Shanti Project | | bio | | discography | | sample from Julie Doiron And The Wooden Stars | | top of page |
